While he was bidding on my YCH last week, Kitsume also commissioned a traditional badge from me. This gave me opportunity to figute out how to draw his character before working on the YCH, so I'd have a better understanding of various character details.

I seem to be drawing this guy more and more; I imagine at some point I'll have to name him and finalize some design elements. Until then, though, he'll pop up sporadically in my art gallery.

A wolfgirl prepares to nom a drumstick as the weather turns to fall. It seems that her winter coat is starting to come in under that red hood.

Felt like messing around a bit with markers when colouring in the hood I put on the wolf girl (hey, she needs to wear something), and giving her digitigrade legs for a change. Seeing as how it's officially autumn, I felt this would be a good way to get into it. Enjoy!

This random character was originally sketched out with the goal of colouring on my computer, but as I worked at it I started shading in her spots. Then getting out the pencil crayons...

Felt like pulling my painting supplies out this time, and making a new conbadge — the challenge was trying to work with a much smaller area (I'm still a bit shaky with a brush, but it's gotten better I think).

Okay, Blue Jay

A puppy (not RK this time, an anonymous yellow lab) tries to play fetch with a blue jay on a nice day. Baseball season is here.

The sleuths among you might recognize that the Blue Jays are Toronto's baseball (they play in the AL East, along with the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays and Orioles). The pic here is a play on their theme song chorus (appearing during the seventh inning stretch): "OK Blue Jays / Let's Play Ball!".

I decided to paint this one for a change... Seem to be getting the hang of it in parts, but looks like I'll need a bit more practice before I'll make it look as good as my digital works (which also get proper shadows on them).

Self Portrait

Over the holiday season, I managed to procure a painting kit as a gift. I decided to open it up this weekend and give the stuff a try.

My first painting didn't come out so great (it's linked from my Twitter feed if you want to find it), but after trying again with a new drawing, I feel a bit better. It's not perfect, and looks sloppier than my digital works, but this one's a decent starting point.

Acrylic on paper, which started to curl once the paint began to dry near the corners. Since the last time I worked in this medium was grade school, it took a bit to get used to, and I still need to work around some problems.

A Fox in Socks

Figured I'd have some fun with foxes, socks, boxes, and the holiday season. Coloured in with markers and a bit of coloured pencil, though some of those colours are out of gamut. The rest of this image has been adjusted to compensate for that.

A badge of Niner collecting his degree at the June convocation for his university (Waterloo, for those who don't recognize the crest behind him or the regalia).

Okay, that doesn't happen until the 12th, the day before my B-day, but since I have a furmeet this weekend, I felt it was time for a new badge. The part where I did the calligraphy was fun, and I thought it would look different with circles for paws (wristless, at that). Hood colours were matched to my grad photo, and no we don't use mortarboards.

Got commissioned to make a badge for this local fur, a grey wolf with a few robotic/cybernetic parts. It was fun to mess around with, especially when I started to add in the silvery pupil and name. (You can't tell here, but along with the metal parts, those have a glossy finish.) It took a couple of tries to scan in a faithful computer-screen version thanks to those parts, so enjoy.

Warm fur

Niner shows off one of the properties of his winter coat (of fur); he's warm enough this winter without requiring extra layers.

Interestingly, I don't need any extra layers either, and was overheating whenever I wore anything other than a single shirt and jacket (this is in Canada, you know). Conbadge for a furmeet in a couple of weeks.

Conbadge I made for the Torfur meet this weekend, the day after I turn 23. This is my explanation for the reference to my day having finished (it will be tomorrow, but as the badge is for Saturday, that will have just finished).

The bandana and sheriff badge are only there for neatness and because I will be bringing with a copy of Bang!, a western-themed card game.

I decided to have a little fun, so I drew Kelix in a more risqué manner; nothing's showing, so it should be fine to wear (the word choice at the bottom might make it cross the line, but that was his idea; I made it smaller so it would be less obvious).
